The Job Search 😔

such a fun process

I am not going to lie. The job search is HARD, mainly because it is hard not to get discouraged. It is also irritating, the numerous cover letters, ooohhh, and typing your experience when you have my resume…It bugs me every time!

But I want to explain the discouragement, yes everytime you get the email that says ā€œwe looked at your qualification and decided to move forward with other applicants, but we will keep your resume on file. good luck with your search.ā€ Uhm yeah, anytime I get that email, I get mad, not discouraged because bigolly lets get creative with these responsesā€. No, the discouraging part is when you get the interview and you never hear from them again or you get an email 2 seconds after you finish the interview to say ā€œNEXTā€.

Yes it is discouraging but remember that what job is for you will be for you!

There is this portion of the job search that also maybe discouraging while being annoying, and it is when you find your dream job to fill out that application as perfect as perfect can get, and you do not get that first interview or you never here back!

But remember the job that’s for you will be for you!

I have been through all these scenarios and the same phrase gets me through it.

I know God will put me in the spaces and places that I am meant to be in!

I will say that the application process could be a lot better:

  1. Don't ask me to fill out my experience and ask for my resume! I am liable not finish that application

    1. If AI reads your apps first, then figure out how to get them to read pdfs. because just why?

  2. References: Do not ask me to have a document for references; ask me to type them out again.

    1. Not as big of a deal but it is.

  3. If you have separate questions, you would like to ask us, make it a part of the cover letter or state it as the required material so we won’t be blindsided on the application.

  4. As an institution or office, be unique in your ā€œyou did not get an interview responseā€ cause, honestly, you could save me a notification, but also, thanks for not leaving me hanging.

Overall, this generation and genz are not learning the art of applying for jobs anymore in their programs. I honestly did not know what a cover letter was until my last semester of undergrad. So, you need to update your job application experience to fit the times.

REMEMBER…

ā€œGod will put you in the spaces and places that you are meant to be in! ā€
