Am I Irritated With My Almater?

Hi Dream Team!
If you did not know I went to Ohio University (OU) for undergrad, it is in the middle of nowhere southeast Ohio. Roll Bobbies. All that to say is it was White ASF, and I was definitely the only Black person in my cohorts which is to be expected! But with all that to be said I would not choose a different school to go. I really did enjoy my four years, Despite being called the N word my first year by one of my mod mates, being the only Black person in majority of my classes, or seeing that a lot of the White people be oblivious to racism. I still loved my school and my time there.
I know I have talked about DEI and how it has affected my current graduate assistantship. But let's talk a little bit about Ohio University and Ohio. In February, the state of Ohio passed a bill called SB 1 that targeted diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education. Current students of Ohio University protested the passing of SB 1 and OU’s actions after it was passed. OU students and Alumni are amazing, and we can not deny it!
Anyway, now let's get to why I am annoyed. An article came out that stated OU is not taking the same steps as Ohio State (Read Article Here). However, I think OU is taking its own steps that are just as bad as Ohio State's, such as taking away the dedicated offices to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion or give students with different identities a safe space. I also think these steps are slowly leading to those actions.
BAR is the Black Alumni Reunion. For the first time ever I was able to afford to go to the this weekend filled of fun and connection for current Black student and Black alumni. I was super excited however it was so called put on “PAUSED” I would just say cancelled because I received a refund for the event I paid for from the school. Now, a lot of these alumni who attend serve on the board, or donate fund to the school because they love this school so much they continue to want to support. What does this say to you Black Alumni that you pause the one event dedicated to them coming back and showing love to their almater. All of us use to call the school hOUme and to be uninvited is shitty (excuse my french). Anyways this is not something I am surprised by Ohio University rarely listens to the cries of their Black students (hmph).

However OU, did not stop the satellite campus Ohio University Lancaster places a “PAUSE” on their Celebrate Women Conference now what the beep! WOMEN!!! Other than our right (women) to abortion and to make choices for our body! How is this program cancelled? Uhm if we blink women is not going to have the right to vote yoo! Did I mention the president is a WOMAN!! Chilllee, anyway yall
